CBS Local Philadelphia reports how The Head Nut in Ardmore debuted as Temp Tee Nuts in 1945.
“Over the years, the family-run business has been reinvented with the changing times,” explains The Head Nut’s website. “Today, we sell not just nuts, but everything from our own brand of coffee roasted by Main-Line Coffee Roasters, teas from around the world, gummy candies beyond your imagination, to an abundance of spices. .”
According to the same CBS Local Philadelphia article, Head Nut was one of many other businesses along the main line that were in danger of closing thanks to Haverford Township’s plans to rezoning the area. .
“It’s the wrong ending for a lifetime’s work,” Lee Molineux Sr. tells the publication.
Fortunately, that wrong ending was not The Head Nut’s fate. About 13,000 people have signed a petition to stop the rezoning plan. The township has yielded and The Head Nut remains open.
