Papoose has been appointed Head of TuneCore’s Hip Hop division and is already enthusiastic about his role as the new executive.
On Tuesday (January 24), a thrilled Pap made the announcement in front of billboards advertising his new role in the heart of Times Square in New York City.
“Today, I am announcing my transition from artist to executive,” he wrote on Instagram. @tunecore I am so blessed, humbled and honored to have this wonderful opportunity.
The Brooklyn native has added a new email address so that potential clients and artists can contact him about TuneCore’s services. “If you’re serious about chasing your dreams, email me papoose@tunecore.com God is the best!!”
Congratulatory messages poured in via Pup’s comment section from Fat Joe, DJ Premier, Busta Rhymes, Jermaine Dupri, Ghostface Killer, Nemus and more.
Papoose shared another post from his office chair, reflecting on his journey and explaining how he’s looking forward to using all his experience in the rap game to help the artist navigate the business side. .
“It feels great to take in all my experience, what I’ve been through, all the hard work [and] Turn that into something positive and give back to up-and-coming artists,” he said.
“[It’s] Very important. There are people who know what it’s like to be an artist, how hard it can be, and how frustrating it can be at times if you keep chasing your dreams. ”
TuneCore is a Brooklyn-based company that specializes in independent distribution, publishing and licensing deals for emerging artists.
Russ is a long-time supporter of TuneCore. As a means of revenue that allows artists to make substantial profits from their music, rather than focusing on deals with major record labels.
Last July, Russ posted his account balance on Instagram to show off the money he made from TuneCore and his own distribution, comparing it to the paltry check he first received from TuneCore in 2012.
