The Southside First Economic Development Council works to connect businesses with programs available in cities and counties.
San Antonio — The Southside First Economic Development Council wants to grow San Antonio businesses on the south side of the city, and many partners are working to make it happen.
The nonprofit is located at 2130 SW Military Dr Suite 202 in San Antonio and is generally open from 9am to 5pm.
But on Saturday, we partnered with City Hall, city representatives, Bexar County Clerk’s Office, CPS energy, Workforce Solutions, and other organizations and businesses to host the Southside Expo.
Southside First CEO Gabriela Cadena said:
The crowded event was an attempt to provide a resource for business owners and local residents who were stuck at work during the week.
Southside First is already working with cities, counties, UTSA, and private businesses to help businesses find ways to get loans, learn how to evaluate loans, and find locations . We are already working to help businesses access U.S. Relief Plans Act funding and talk to business advisors.
The Southside First Economic Development Council now also has online presentations on tax credits, building permits, government contracts, banking, and many other topics.
Cadena told KENS 5 that they are also working with businesses in other areas of the city to expand southward.
“If you want to expand, have another business in the West, East or North and need a second or third location, talk to us.
