Re “San Diego got 20 trailers to shelter homeless people during COVID-19. They’ve been in storage for years” (Jan 29): Todd Gloria Mayor’s spokesperson Dave Rowland deserves a “blame game” trophy for blaming the city for its failure to deploy the 20 trailers the state provided to house the homeless. people of the previous government.
As we know, Gloria has been in office since December 2020, giving her plenty of time to roll out her trailer. As mentioned in the article, the Chula Vista trailer rolled out in just a few months.
Sadly, this is another example of the city’s excuse for the “too little, too late” approach to the homeless crisis.
When will City Hall wake up and realize that the people of San Diegan are fed up with their lack of progress? We are well aware of the expansion of innovative ideas in other cities to provide affordable housing.
If the mayor and city council want the more excuses they need for re-election in two years, they could get a disrespectful wake.
