Before the 2022 football season begins, it has been confirmed that it will be Sam Hartman’s final at Wake Forest. Of course, it was assumed that he would leave Winston-Salem for the NFL, not another school. But despite this, the fact that Hartman is gone isn’t surprising.
Hartman’s new school, Notre Dame, was also expected. As rumors began to swirl around Wake Forest’s Sports Media Corporation (Wake on the day of his final game for the Forest, Gasparilla’s Bowl), it was almost a given that Hartman would leave for Ireland. was the conclusion. and it was done on thursday.

And Notre Dame gives Hartman the chance to compete for the national championship.Wake Forest has undoubtedly grown by leaps and bounds as a program, but the competition for the CFP crown is still out of reach. The same cannot be said for Notre Dame, a prestigious program steeped in college football history. Maybe next year the pieces will come together for Ireland. Deeks is also well positioned for his immediate future at quarterback. Mitch Griffith is undoubtedly the “man” under center at Winston-Salem for years to come. He did well in place of Hartman in his VMI fight in August and will be attending his seventh and his eighth camps at Deeks this spring and fall.
Had Hartman returned to Wake Forest for the sixth season and had the ability to make that choice, Griffith would have had every right to leave. . He waited patiently behind Hartman for his three seasons. His time is now.

Hartman’s return was a good thing so far, but the future of the program at that position could have been derailed, especially with the move of Brett Griffiths to James Madison in December. Hartmann’s departure is a mutually beneficial decision. Both parties had to move on.
Yes, it would be a unique situation for Hartmann to play in a different uniform next season. But this is by no means a betrayal.
As a Wake Forest fan, if you want to piss off the portal’s lack of structure, that’s fine. If you’re disappointed that Hartman is leaving the Demon Deacons, I can understand that. But with all the blood, sweat, and tears he put into this program, it would be unfair to criticize his decisions. We should wish him luck.
Sam Hartman gave Wake Forest a five-year commitment even after being injured as a freshman and losing his job to another quarterback the following season. Instead of leaving, he remained loyal to Dave Clawson, the programme, and his teammates.
By staying, Hartman became part of perhaps the greatest Wake Forest season ever, the only time the Deacs have been to the ACC Championship. With 4,228 passing yards and 50 total touchdowns, Hartman led Wake Forest.
Not only that, he led Deacs to the highest ranking in program history (10th), and he did it again the following year.
Best of all, he graduated. Wherever Hartman goes, whether it’s Notre Dame next season or the NFL afterward, he’s a Wake Forest alum. He is forever linked to Deeks.
This season hasn’t been a roaring success in light of the high expectations, but it was a feat in itself for Hartman. His spirit and dedication were undiminished when he was diagnosed with Paget-Schroetter Syndrome, a potentially life-threatening illness.

Instead, Hartman supported his teammates at Summerball practice, leading Griffiths through a grueling process that suddenly pushed him into the role of number one quarterback.
And Hartmann fought with all his might to get back on the field in old gold and black.
Wake Forest Baptist Vascular Surgeon Matthew Goldman said: If you had told me when we operated on him that he would start against Vanderbilt in a month’s time, I would have told you I doubted it.
The work done to not only return for the 2022 season, but to come back in such a short time span shows Hartman’s total dedication to Wake Forest.
It’s understandable that there are concerns about the nature of Sam Hartman’s exit from Winston-Salem. And they probably won’t be answered. But when Hartman wakes up, there should be no question about what he did for Forrest. He has set nearly all passing records for the program and is the ACC passing TD leader.
He brought Wake Forest back to the ACC Championship, finished 10th in two national rankings, and was part of a respected group that set the program on a positive path towards future success. He ushered in a new era in Wake Forest football.
“This guy has done everything right for five years at Wake Forest,” says Clawson.
Sam Hartman’s choice is justified. For half a year he devoted himself entirely to his stewards. His last words on the field after the Gasparilla Bowl were “Go to Deacs, as always.” Hartman is Wake Forest. And that doesn’t change when he wears a different jersey.
