Albemarle County, Virginia (WVIR) – Albemarle County’s North Fork Discovery Park has received $3 million to continue its work.
Funding comes from a Business Ready Sites Program grant in partnership with the UVA Foundation. They want to invest the money in 31 acres of land to help their business.
Albemarle County Economic Development Authority JT Newbery said, “This area will house major employers in the future that will create career advancement jobs in our community.” We have a growing business and are looking for a space to invest in and grow in. The challenge for that investment is the timeline associated with regulatory approvals and construction of that expansion.”
The funding is expected to accelerate the process of preparing the land for business growth.
“We anticipate this will reduce our expansion timeline by 12 to 18 months,” said Newberry. “These funds will have a significant impact on our efforts to sustain a growing and thriving business here.”
Deborah Van Eersel of the UVA Foundation said: “These funds will have a significant impact on our efforts to sustain a growing and thriving business here.
