Shen is a defensive defender who plays a tough, physical style of hockey. He can play in any defensive situation, including his kills on penalties. He averages 1:50 ice times per game with the Canucks (his third-most on the team). Shen doesn’t offer much attack, but last season he scored 14 goals (2 goals and 12 assists) in 43 appearances after only 17 in 66 appearances.

Shen also brings a wealth of postseason experience. He played in his 31 career his playoffs his games among his four different teams. He won his two Stanley Cup titles in his 2019-20 and his 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning.
Veteran defenses are always in high demand around the trade deadline, so there should be plenty of teams showing some interest in Shen. Perfect for Both of these clubs could use another quality defense in the playoffs.
Shen will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, with a salary cap of just $850,000 for 2022-23.
