Harrisburg residents were excited about the return of holiday traditions as restaurants geared up for the “biggest night of the year.”
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Signs of the season are everywhere at Aroga’s Grill House and Sports Bar on Second Street in Harrisburg. The employees put the finishing touches on the decor and spent ages loading up the grill in anticipation of New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Arooga’s Kitchen Manager Jasin Reimer said:
New Year excitement is on the rise in Harrisburg as the annual Strawberry Drop returns downtown for the first time since 2020. on New Year’s Day.
“Harrisburg is back,” Reimer said. “The weather is looking good. A little drizzle, but otherwise it’s probably the most fun we’ve had in years.”
It was a similar scene at Cafe Fresco Center City a few doors down.
Brian Fertenbaugh, owner of Cafe Fresco Center City and Level 2 nightclub, said:
FOX43 spotted waiters taking orders and bartenders serving cocktails as the 2023 gala at Cafe Fresco and Level 2 nightclub ground floor kicked off. Owner Brian Fertenbaugh has been waiting for an evening like this.
“Last year all the restrictions were still somewhat in place, so we haven’t seen what we want to see tonight for about three years,” Furtenbaugh said.
It’s a traditional celebration of being back in town, and the restaurant is nearly full. Fertenbaugh said it’s the best he can hope for as 2023 approaches.
“We have a lot of bookings tonight,” Furtenbaugh said. I hope that is not a factor.”
Several downtown businesses are offering extended hours tonight as the party continues into the morning.
