The iconic New Jersey bakery is closing after more than 40 years.
Hoboken’s bakery staple, Dom’s Bakery Grand, closed Saturday, January 28th.
The 43-year-old bakery was located at 506 Grand Street.
“As many of you know, we have made the decision to close this chapter in our lives. We are,” owners Dom and Flo Castelitto shared in a Facebook post.
The owner cited retirement as the reason for the closure.
Dom’s Bakery opened on Fifth Avenue in 1979. In 1988, Castelittos moved the bakery around the corner to 506 Grand St.
Dom’s Bakery was popular for its bread. The bakery served traditional Italian baked goods such as baguettes, focaccia, sfogliatella and Easter bread.
Legendary singer and fellow Hoboken native Frank Sinatra also frequented the bakery.
Dom’s Bakery was featured on NJ.com’s list of the 64 foods that define New Jersey. It has become a hotspot for Italian bread in the Garden State.
