According to reports, 2023 is the year hip-hop celebrates its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a new Hip-Hop series has been launched on BronxNet. The series, Kwik2Rok, showcases and celebrates hip-hop as an art form and culture born in the Bronx, according to network officials.
BronxNet Executive Director Michael Max Nobbe said of the launch of the new show: Bronx. “Thanks to Creatives Rebuild NY for helping bring Kwik2Rok and other upcoming new original shows to life while supporting local artists and the creative economy.”
Television representatives said hip-hop dance legends Ana Rokafella Garcia and Gabriel Kwikstep Dionisio will produce a television show focused on their culture, thanks to the support of Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY). Variety Talk Show presents interviews, archival clips and performances, featuring world-renowned artists and underground artists who are keeping hip-hop’s legacy alive.
Garcia said of the new show: “Kwikstep and I are very excited to launch Kwik2Rok (our hip hop variety show) in 2023 as he marks the 50th anniversary of hip hop’s first party in 1973. I have.”
Kwik2Rok is made possible by an Artist Employment Program (AEP) grant from Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY). Designed to support employment opportunities for artists, the program has involved 98 collaborations, including a dynamic group of 300 artists employed by community-based organizations, local governments, and tribal governments throughout New York State.
