MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Record invited the community to its second N/A Day at Cooperage in Dry January.
Dry January is a campaign to encourage abstaining from alcohol for a month.
At N/A Day: A “Dry January” Beverage Festival, Alesia Miller served non-alcoholic kombucha. As she handed out samples of her own drinks, she remembered why she founded her own company, Seoul Her Brewing.
“I was trying to do better for myself,” Miller said.
Miller said kombucha has done a lot for her health with prediabetes.
“I’m trying to be part of the change because this is a way for me to not only help myself but also really educate the community in a space that doesn’t serve a lot of healthy food and drink. That area,” said Miller.
Milwaukee’s Sam Giglio came out with some of his friends on N/A Day. For Giglio, the break from alcohol began about a year ago when he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
He said he appreciates having such an option to make the transition easier.
“By the way, there are more and more alternatives to alcohol, and it’s perfect that my friends are into it. I appreciate it so much and there are so many cool options,” Giglio said. I was. .
Festival organizer Tyler Maas of Milwaukee Records said the people here were a big inspiration for putting on the event.
“I think a lot of consumers and a lot of local businesses are saying they want something different,” Mars said.
Miller believes the large crowds on N/A Day highlight why people want to attend Dry January.
“Events like this are great because they can bring all these brands together to show that all kinds of drinks are great social occasions that bring a lot of people together. We bond, we have great conversations, we have a clear head and a clear heart,” said Miller.
She also hopes people will see dry January with a renewed focus on health, and is ready to discuss how kombucha can help.
