Missy Elliott Makes History as First Female Hip-Hop Artist Inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2023 nominees on February 1, making the rapper a major milestone by becoming the first female hip-hop artist to achieve the honor.

“This is an incredible honor and I am so humbled and grateful to be counted among all the amazing winners,” Missy said in a press release of the moment. I’ve spent my career making the kind of music that I do, and it means so much to know that I’ve had an impact on other people as well.”
