Mother dead, father, aunt, second man injured in Milwaukee shooting
The shooting and house fire prompted Milwaukee police and firefighters to reach 22nd Street and the Center Wednesday night. Four people were shot, one of whom died. Shortly after the shooting, the house where the suspect lived caught fire.
milwaukee – On the night of Wednesday, August 24, shootings and a house fire sent Milwaukee police and firefighters to 22nd Street and the Center area. Four people were shot, one of whom he died. Shortly after the shooting, the house where the suspect lived caught fire.
It was supposed to be a family visit, but it ended with her mother shot dead, her husband and sister injured, and her son asking why.
“They were silent. They were sitting on the porch and they were killed,” Gregory Mallory said.

Gregory, who lives in Colorado with his aunt, told FOX6 News that his parents, Shirley, 82, and Ivory, 85, live near 22nd Street and Center where he grew up.
“I wanted them out of the neighborhood,” he said. “Basically, they’re targets. Someone runs up to them and starts shooting. They have nowhere to run.”
Gregory missed the flight from Colorado with his Aunt Carrie Barnhill, 88. She arrived early and showed up at her sister’s house near the center on Wednesday night, the 22nd.
Hours later, voices and laughter were heard on surveillance video from nearby homes. As the night wore on, surveillance cameras showed the porch lights coming on and 12 gunshots being fired at the house south of the camera.

A woman shouted, “Why did you shoot us?” Then, “Did you get shot too?” followed by more gunshots, followed by silence and four more gunshots.
Minutes later, the house next door, which police said was linked to the shooter, went up in flames.

By the time police arrived, Shirley had been pronounced dead at the scene. Ivory, Barnhill, and a 65-year-old man were taken to hospital and survived.
Police said they knew who they were looking for, and so did Gregory.
“We all know shooters,” said Gregory. “Really, we grew up next to each other. I always said to his father, ‘He’s kind of weird. Leave him alone.’ ”
Police are investigating the cause of the shooting and fire. Neighbors said they were traumatized by the tragedy.
“If[my father]dies, if something happens to my father, my mother is still gone,” Gregory said. “My mother was killed on the spot. There is still blood.”
“It really hurts,” said the neighbor. “It really hurts right now. It hits us hard that it’s them.”
