milwaukee – A 23-year-old Milwaukee man faces multiple charges in connection with the shooting of a man in an alley near 76th Street and Vienna on August 15. The accused he is Breyon Wright.

According to the criminal complaint, Milwaukee police officers were called out near 76th Street and Vienna on August 15 and found Joseph Jones lying in an alleyway with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite his life-saving measures, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. The complaint noted that Jones was holding a 9mm handgun in his right hand.
Detectives spoke with someone who was at the scene of the Jones murder. This person indicated that Jones had stopped by the area and was talking to someone in another car, an SUV. The person told detectives that the two men were “talking loudly” but that the conversation did not appear to “heat up”. said he cried. Moments later, the person “heard four or five gunshots that sounded like they were from two guns,” the complaint states. The person told detectives that the second person was no longer in the alley and Jones was on the ground.

A second witness told authorities, “I heard two men arguing in an alley. rice field.

Police recovered surveillance video showing the alley where the crime took place. The video “shows a black man dressed in black running south from the alley shortly after Jones’ murder,” the complaint reads. The camera also captured a sharp image of the subject’s face. This photo helped investigators identify the subject as the defendant, Wright.
Investigators were able to take fingerprints from an SUV allegedly left behind by the defendant, the complaint says.

On August 25, detectives interviewed Wright. He denied his involvement in the murder. When shown a still from surveillance video, he “said he didn’t know who the person was,” the complaint states. However, when confronted with information that two people identified him in the photograph, he replied that those people were “colorblind.”
Wright made his first appearance in Milwaukee County Courthouse on Sunday, August 28. His cash bond was set at his $100,000. Breyon is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 6.
