milwaukee – Milwaukee 23-year-old Matthew Hinkle is accused of shooting and killing two people at a tire shop near 10th Avenue and Atkinson. One of them died at the scene.
Hinkle is charged with one count of reckless murder in the first degree, use of dangerous weapons, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The shooting occurred on September 23rd.
According to the criminal complaint, multiple witnesses told investigators that day that an angry Hinkle appeared at the tire shop and demanded that an employee go outside. He approached the door threshold, drew his gun, and shot two employees inside.
One of the victims died from his injuries at the scene.
Witnesses said the 24-year-old man who died received a phone call shortly before the shooting. He said the victim told him, “Some guys who just got out of prison are still angry about some fights that happened a long time ago.” and shot two men.

Hinkle’s own ex-girlfriend told investigators she received a message earlier in the day showing a post Hinkle wrote on the Instagram page of the 25-year-old shooting survivor. said she attended high school with “Matt,” the complaint states.
According to the complaint, Hinkle was convicted of robbery using force in 2016 and was sentenced to one year in prison.
He made his first appearance in this latest lawsuit on November 19th. A cash bond was set at his $100,000.
