milwaukee – A sudden homecoming to Milwaukee had a tragic twist when a woman died in a drunken driving accident. DeeAnna Edwards, 31, was in the passenger seat of a car driven by a close friend of hers.
Investigators say the friend was almost three times the legal limit.
The Edwards family is devastated by the loss of the mother of four children.
She came from Arizona to Milwaukee to celebrate the life of her family members who died when she lost her own life.
Lorraine Braggs, Edwards’ mother, said: “I can’t hold her like I used to.
There may be no greater pain than losing a child.
“She just came over and was lying on my chest,” said Braggs.
Braggs now mourns the loss of his youngest daughter and comforts his grandson in the same way.
“There was nothing I wanted or needed that she wouldn’t do,” Braggs said.

Edwards flew in from Arizona to surprise the family to celebrate the loss of a loved one. .
“My sister loved and trusted many people,” said Charlotte Dettman, Edwards’ sister. “It’s a shame that this one trust cost her life.”
Investigators say friend Seantonay Walton, 27, had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he crashed into a tree on 91st Street and Bradley.
Edwards did not survive.
“Even if you know it’s an accident, you have to be careful,” said Braggs.
Lovers remember the 31-year-old as a devoted mother of four. They said her youngest son could not understand what had happened.
She said, ‘Granny,'” said Braggs. “She’s ready to go home.” I don’t know how to tell her, ‘Mom’s not here.
The family is trying to wrap their arms around Edwards’ four young children to offer them comfort when it seems impossible.
“Please pray for my family,” Dettman said.
Walton was charged with three felonies, including murder for use of a vehicle and death for driving without a valid license.
Edwards’ loved ones created a GoFundMe.com account to help with funeral expenses and Edwards’ children.
