Miller Place students are successful entrepreneurs

Miller Place, New York (January 2023) — Thirty-nine students from Thomas Frank’s Virtual Enterprise class at Miller Place High School excel at the Long Island Regional Trade Show and Business Plan Competition. Students were tasked with either setting up businesses to sell their products at trade shows or pitching their business ideas to angel investors.

“Our Virtual Enterprise students have done an amazing job and participated in a very successful field trip. All who attended represented Mirror Place with pride, enthusiasm and exceptional skill,” said the Superintendent. said Seth Lipsey of “Trade commends the students who attended her show for the professionalism and passion they displayed in promoting their ideas to investors.”

Founded by student CEO Gianna Benavides, Deja VR Business is a virtual reality company that sells headsets with a variety of gaming, sports, music, history and travel options. Gianna’s company won a silver trophy in a website contest. Salome Davoudiasl, creator of her website for Deja VR, commented: The simple mechanics of our website turned out to be a great project to work on throughout the school year. ”

Earning $150,000 at the show, Deja VR ranked among Long Island’s top 10 schools in a competition that included 3,000 schools from Nassau, Suffolk County and New York City.

Founded by student CEO Alexandra DeAmario, the Sand N’ Shade business sells customized sunglasses, snow goggles, watches and hats. Sand N’ Shade set a school record at the fair where she sold over $170,000 in merchandise.
