Max Houma started Saturday’s final round five shots off the lead, but the former California standout hit a 6-under 66 at the Torrey Pines Course to finish two shots behind the Farmers Insurance Open. 6 wins on the PGA Tour.
Another former Calgolfer, Colin Morikawa, was also in contention all day. He finished third, three strokes off the lead, after rolling up 10-under in the tournament after hitting a 3-under-par 69 on Saturday.
However, Houma birdied the final hole on the day to finish 13-under-par, perhaps improving his world ranking from 16th before the weekend. His wife, Lacey, and nearly three-month-old infant son, Cam, were also present and saw Houma play a strong final round, with Keegan putting him two strokes behind Bradley. 66 under on the day, 11 under at the tournament.
This is the final putt that includes shots of his wife and young son.
Houma also won the first event of the 2022-23 season, the Fortinet Championship, joining Jon Rahm as the only players to win two events this season.
Sam Ryder, who held a two-shot lead in the field going into the final round, struggled midway through Saturday’s round, posting a double bogey at 15.th A hole that doomed his chance. He finished tied for fourth at 9-under after hitting a 3-over par 75 on Saturday.
The turning point came on the 16th hole and the rider on the 15th hole. Houma knocked in a birdie putt on the 16th to give the riders the lead, and seconds later the rider made a double-bogey 6 one hole behind, leaving only Houma in the lead.
It was a series of standout shots that propelled Houma to the title, as seen in the following video.

Houma tied for first with ninth birdie
Homa took the lead for about a minute with the 11th birdie, but the rider matched Homa with the 10th birdie.
What was overlooked in Homa’s victory was the performance of Morikawa, who achieved three consecutive victories.
He finished 6th at the Hero World Challenge in early December, 2nd at the Sentry Tournament of Champions earlier this month, and is currently 3rd.
