MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee man who was among the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list after killing two people and injuring three others at a 2006 Memorial Day picnic has been released from prison. was found dead in his cell.
Octaviano Juarez-Corro was found unresponsive in his cell at the Milwaukee County Jail around 6:30 am on Sunday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Authorities said he was in solitary confinement and had no obvious signs of trauma or injury.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. State law prohibits law enforcement agencies from investigating such cases themselves in order to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
Prosecutors allege that Huarescolo was in the process of divorcing his wife when he showed up uninvited to a picnic at Milwaukee Park on the shores of Lake Michigan. After being caught, he opened fire. His wife said she was beaten twice, but she survived.
He has been placed on the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list in 2021. In February 2002, he was finally arrested in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Mexico, thanks to a tip-off, and he was extradited to Milwaukee in September.
He faced two counts of first-degree willful murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. He has been held on $1.5 million bail since his October.
