orlando, florida – Business owners in downtown Orlando could feel the impact on the local economy as fans flocked from across the country to cheer on their favorite teams at Monday’s Citrus Bowl.
District Manager of Church Street Entertainment, Peter Garam, says bowl games have really benefited his restaurants and bars.

“We’re seeing a tremendous increase as out-of-towners come to Orlando looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve,” he said.
A table of 10 people were enjoying a meal at Ember, one of his restaurants off Central Boulevard, when News 6 spoke with him.
The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl kicked off on Monday — between the Purdue Boilermakers and the LSU Tigers. The Tigers won 63-7.
Last Thursday’s Cheez-it Bowl drew over 61,000 people.
News 6 spoke with Steve Hogan, CEO of Florida Citrus Sports.
He said he expects a crowd of more than 40,000 for Monday’s game, adding that he expects a total economic impact of about $100 million.
Hogan said the game has always drawn fans to local businesses.
“They’re out exploring. They’re seen in Disney Springs, they’re seen in downtown Orlando, they’re driving up and down the street and they’re eating at restaurants,” Hogan said.
