Monroe, Louisiana (KNOE) – Louisiana Catalyst is an organization that provides low-cost and free workspaces for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. Delon Tully, vice president of Louisiana Catalyst, said their team recognized the need for his resources and took action to help small businesses in the region.
“There are people working out of the dining room, out of the second or third bedroom, or out of the garage right now, but I came here and said, ‘I’m not just working. I can tell you, from my garage, I have a place where I can take my business and ideas to the next level,” says Tully.
This neutral location provides technology and spatial resources for entrepreneurs to separate home and work while pursuing their passions.
Virendra Chikara, director of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center, says many people get confused when navigating the next steps to grow their business, but he says the methods haven’t changed.
“At the end of the day, back in the 60s and 70s, business started the same way it does today. Technology added value to it, and the way business was done completely changed, but the basics never changed. No,” says Chikara.
The organization offers free expert-led growth strategy and startup sessions, free workspace and meeting room reservations, and podcast recording technology and sessions for $50/hour and $90/4 hours. They provide technology for recording podcasts and virtual meetings.
“In an hour or two at night, you won’t have to pay your rent, utilities, internet or water bills, and you can spend 10 hours a week living your dream of becoming an entrepreneur,” says Tully.
According to Talley, Louisiana Catalyst board members don’t make a profit, but they donate their time and resources to help the community grow and encourage them to follow their dreams.
“You come there, you use it, you leave and you go on and grow your business. That’s our payment, that’s our return. For us, economic development , to be able to create a real environment for entrepreneurs to innovate to support the growth of the region from the perspective of
The organization is affiliated with the City of Monroe and is funded by various local contributors who make it possible.
