I heard Chicago Cubs infielder Nick Madrigal could get some playing time at third base.
Now we can see him preparing for the position.
Rich Biesterfeld tweeted an image of Madrigal scoring a grounder at third base.
Madrigal has spent his entire college and major league career at second base, but Jed Hoyer admitted at a Cubs tournament that Madrigal will see Rep at third base.

The move centers around a log jam the Cubs have in the Nakano infield. Nico Horner slides into second base after signing former Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson. The Swansby-Hoerner pairing is a prodigious defensive middle fielder and Madrigal is an odd out.
Madrigal told the Chicago Tribune, “I’m just prepared for whatever they throw at me.” It’s a very exciting time for Cubs fans and everyone who is part of a Cubs team.”
It’s possible the White Sox might even consider moving Madrigal back to the South Side. The White Sox need a second baseman.
Madrigal’s hitting profile differs from the typical third baseman, but he has a valuable bat in another way.
“He’s not your typical third baseman power slugger,” Hoyer told the Tribune.
As Hoyer has proven, healthy madrigals are prodigious base hitters. He boasts a .289 batting average and a .336 all-time bases average. So his commitment to finding his spot on the field is due to his ability at the plate.
The Cubs could also choose to use him in the designated hitter spot. It seems
Madrigal is not known for his defensive skills. He doesn’t have dazzling arms or lateral ability to navigate the ball along the line. He has speed, so defensive bunts and short-grounders can be in his wheelhouse.
It still looks like a square peg with a round hole type fit. The Cubs have time to figure out how to lay out their roster.
