Many West Alabama business owners have big plans for 2023, and their New Year’s resolutions are just as big.
Five Bar Manager Cameron Covington said, “If you look at the whole last year, it’s been the biggest post-COVID year and I think it’s all back to 100%.
Covington said his top priority this year is to put the customer first.
“The solution is to keep expanding our repertoire,” he said. “Listen to your guests and hear what your staff likes and dislikes.”
This is very important to the hospitality industry, and the industry itself is very important to downtown Tuscaloosa.
“We do it because we really care about what we do and we really enjoy it,” Covington said. “We put smiles on people’s faces and enjoy more than that.”
The shirt shop, also in downtown Tuscaloosa, changed ownership in 2022 as its longtime owner began retiring. New owner Bethany Triplett said she’s starting her first year as store manager on her right foot.
“Our biggest goal for 2023 is the website,” says Triplett. “Our brick and mortar store has grown exponentially in he 2022 and we want to put that same kind of energy into our website.”
Triplett said the world is becoming more and more dependent on technology each year.
“We’re trying to do this 24/7 so you can sit on your couch in Washington and pick up your favorite nice Alabama merchandise,” Triplett says.
Both business owners said they are excited about the growth opportunities in the new year.
