Tampa, Florida – Lifelong artist Ashley Cassens took a giant leap three years ago, turning her art into a full-time business. She never had a light bulb moment. Instead, the art teacher decides to take a business entrepreneur class.
“That mentorship really paved the way for me,” Cassens said.
She specializes in figurative work, especially all that concerns the body. She loves challenges.

“It’s really hard to draw a caricature, so if it’s off by a quarter of an inch or the colors aren’t right, it looks completely different,” Cassens said.
She paints portraits in oil. It’s a long process, but Cassens enjoys it.
“When you get caught up in that little moment in the paint, it all goes away in your head and you can be in the flow,” she said. It feels very similar to what you describe as a thing.”
From 2021 onwards, one of Cassens’ most famous collections will be called ‘Eye Traps’. It has been described as a “feminine celebration that combines traditional oil paintings, patterned fabrics and fresh colors.”

Two pieces from the collection are featured on the HomeGoods canvas.
“It was wild,” she said with a laugh. “Lots of fist pumps and air punches.”
Cassens added another source of income after learning from another educational source, art podcasts. Podcast Subject: Making Money as a Muralist.
“I had been listening to it for months and was like, ‘I think I can do this,'” she said.
Cassens joined the professional services app Thumbtack and has been busy creating murals ever since.

“How are they different? Murals are very physical. “I feel oblivious,” she said.
Differences between the two different mediums are welcome. Cassens says the physical work of murals is great when you need a mental break from portraiture and vice versa. Either way, she stays busy.
