In my opinion, Sean McVay, who has decided to return as the Rams’ coach, rather than be touted as such an elite coach, should be considered near the bottom of the coaching mountain.
After losing one Super Bowl, he and the owner decided to buy their way to another Super Bowl. He took his young and talented QB (Jared Goff), threw it into what looked like a Detroit trash pile, and went out to buy the best team his money.
So they won the Super Bowl. so what? what do they have now? A bunch of aging veterans, no picks now and forever, and a coach who doesn’t seem to know how to sign and develop young players.
Look at Doug Pederson in Jacksonville. Much better than the pathetic Rams.
Goff is active in Detroit. Leave the Ram family in ruins and let McVay go his merry way.

There will inevitably be an allusion to the “sinking ship” with the story that McVay is likely to leave, but the ship may already be sinking. I honestly don’t know which way to go.

Many thought McVay, 30, was too young to be an NFL head coach. At 36, he is too young to take a sabbatical. The challenge is bigger and he should be back with the Rams next season to show what a truly great head coach can accomplish.

Unfortunately, the Rams fell short against Seattle. I wish I could have seen Jared Goff and the Lions make it to the playoffs.

Why is McVay always hailed as one of the greatest coaches? Sure, he won the Super Bowl, but so did Don McCafferty. The Rams’ battle cry this year was “Run it back.” They did so until 2016.

How smart is it to bet on sports? If you take TCU against an opponent trying to give you 57 points, you have lost.

Like any fan, I enjoyed watching the Georgia football team defeat Texas Christian University to win the national championship. turn off? Post-match cigar. Countless teenage boys went in search of smoke this week after seeing the attractive University of Georgia football player enjoying a cigar after the game. , will die as a direct result in the future. Whose idea was it to develop Stojie? What happened to sports heroes as role models?

blame the grinch
Lincoln Riley’s loyalty to Alex Grinch is admirable but indefensible. Utah regular Cotton in Dallas, who gave the Grinch the pass of his season loss and Pac-12 title his game disaster, should have been his Waterloo. Unable to stop Tulane’s mediocre quarterback on two long 4th downs on the final drive, turning Michael Pratt into Vince Young was utterly unforgivable.

How quickly will fans forget Clay Helton’s frustrating tenure and the empty cupboard of talent Lincoln Riley inherited in his first year at the helm? Complaining about defensive shortcomings after a great Riley-engineered turnaround is shortsighted at best. Give Oklahoma time to see if he’s learned from his team’s defensive woes and his first year at USC. His first-year record of 11-3 is nothing to sneeze at.

It’s amazing to me that Stan Kasten can boast that the Dodgers have the highest attendance numbers in baseball and basically refuse to sign anyone to avoid going over the luxury tax. The only luxury tax is now paid by fans who pay top dollar to see a decidedly inferior product.

I was wrong. I believe the same management team that took money from cable TV and practically blacked out fans for years said they were already on the hook for another $22.5 million and still desperately needed a pitch. I really thought you’d think, if it was produced by Trevor Bauer, you’d think the fans would forgive me, right? It turns out they don’t have the courage to do either.

Love him or hate him is what a sports columnist does, and Dylan Hernandez is pretty fearless on the pages of The Times.
Calling Stan Kasten shameless and Mark Walter a coward doesn’t get you any special access to the Dodgers.
Keep it up, sir.

pushed away
NFL or NRL (National Rugby League)? The NFL should prohibit a player from pushing and scoring his back/quarterback running over the line. The offensive line should back the defensive line far enough to allow his back/quarterback to move forward and create a first down instead of pushing the 900-pound player .

Where’s the golf news?
About 10% of the population plays or watches golf. It airs on NBC, CBS, TNT, ESPN, Fox and The Golf Channel. The Times usually “dedicates” an inch or two to it, hidden in the motley The Day in Sports. Professional tournaments take place almost every week, but unless it’s a so-called major his tournament, there’s no commentary or leaderboards, just a brief mention of his two players in the lead. Ignore golf fans.
