Kim Kardashian visited Harvard Business School as a guest lecturer on Friday to talk about her multi-billion dollar shapewear company, SKIMS, according to NBC10 Boston. The reality TV star spent an hour and 45 minutes on campus, accompanied by a camera crew.
“I think a lot of people don’t respect her for co-running a multi-billion dollar company,” a student named Liz who attended the seminar told the outlet.
“It’s been really inspiring to learn from someone who has run a successful business like this. I think having the privacy of having no cameras in the room and being able to have a candid conversation was also special,” Liz continued.
Kardashian, who last year launched the Boston-based private equity firm Skyy Partners and has become a staunch supporter of prison reform, chronicled her trip in true Kardashian fashion, 6:00 a.m. before visiting Boston Common. I posted a workout video on Instagram.
After sharing photos of the newly unveiled Martin Luther King Jr. memorial “The Embrace,” Kardashian headed to Harvard. I posted a video of the campus covered in snow before we started.
“The exciting part is to sit down with these founders and figure out what their dreams are. I just want to support and take it to another level, not change it.”
But not everyone was as enthused as Kardashian.Teacher Support Specialist Maddy Yardley Kardashian happily captioned the video that appeared on Twitterthe reality TV star felt he didn’t belong at Harvard and expressed those feelings on social media.
“Kim Kardashian was born into a wealthy family.” one person tweeted.
“I used a sex tape to try to launch a career as an actor or a singer, neither of which booted,” they continued. “Kim K was wealthy enough to produce a scripted reality show because she and her family are shameless. Harvard is now as sticky as the Kardashians.”
But Kardashian has something to offer Harvard students, as Forbes valued SKIMS at $3.2 billion last year. Meanwhile, her influence has led to meetings with former President Donald Trump and pardons for those convicted of outrageous sentences, like Alice Johnson.
After all, keeping up with the Kardashians was a perennial pursuit, now taking followers to Harvard.
