Surveillance video captured by the cameras caught someone vandalizing Christmas decorations outside the Hialeah business, but it’s vandalism that’s causing trouble.
“I never imagined a child could turn out like that,” said Irma Arteaga, director of Rossi Nail Tech School in Hialeah.
Arteaga told NBC 6 that he just wanted to bring some holiday spirit to the school, but the kid had other plans.
Surveillance cameras show a boy punching and kicking a congratulatory figure outside a storefront along 49th Street in Hialeah.
“Usually kids love Mickey Mouse. They love Christmas,” Arteaga said. “I didn’t expect Mickey Mouse to shatter.”
A boy who was playing catch with two adults waiting for the bus went on a rampage, turning a reindeer into a punching bag and stepping on a penguin.
“He started messing around with the solar lights, using it as a projectile against the figures and tearing them apart. He became more aggressive until he destroyed all the figures,” Arteaga said. .
Arteaga added that the vandalism occurred on Christmas Eve and lasted for almost 30 minutes.
“That woman was sitting there. The whole world could have collapsed, but she didn’t even look back,” Arteaga said.
Police officers were called to the scene and eventually cleared up the mess.
