Shooting outside school in Milwaukee: Teenage suspect shot with own gun
A Milwaukee teenager faces multiple charges after the shooting at James Madison High School on Monday, October 10.
milwaukee – A Milwaukee teenager has been charged as an adult for being injured in a shooting incident at James Madison High School on Monday, Oct. 10. The accused is his 17-year-old Jamalie Kelly, who faces upcoming criminal charges.

School had just dropped out last Monday at James Madison. Police say a crowd of students were outside when a person jumped into a crow and hit a student with a gun. The gun fell to the ground, was picked up by someone else, pointed the gun at him, and pulled the trigger.
Shortly after the incident, police announced that a 17-year-old boy had been dropped off at St Joseph’s Hospital. The teenager, identified as Kelly, had a shot through his pelvis and a scrape on his leg.
Kelly was indicted last week. Prosecutors say the video shows it was Kelly who pulled out a gun and pistol-hit the student.
Kelly told police that he and some of his friends had gone to Madison to attack the student because the victim had jumped over him and his friends months ago, according to court documents.
When questioned by investigators, Kelly said he was at Madison High School picking up a student “when people started shooting, he was shot by a strange man.” After this, detectives told the defendant that he didn’t believe Kelly’s story, and “the defendant eventually admitted that he jumped off a student at school with his friend.” ‘ said the complaint.

While at the hospital, investigators “sent video footage showing the accused had a handgun hidden in the front right pocket of his hooded sweatshirt. The accused jumped into a crowd of students outside the school. “Subject picked up defendant’s gun and fired it at defendant,” the complaint reads.
When detectives showed Kelly the video, the defendant “admitted to having a gun during the incident and he was the subject of the video.
No one else was injured in the shooting. Milwaukee Public Schools officials said police were called after the shooting and the students were kept inside until they issued all permits.
Kelly made his first appearance in Milwaukee County Courthouse on Friday, October 14. His cash bond was set at his $2,500. Kelly said he is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on October 20.
