Former University of Wisconsin-Badgers player JJ Watt announced on Twitter Tuesday that he will be retiring after this season.
In a tweet, he said his last NFL home game was on Christmas Day.
The 33-year-old Pewaukee native posted a photo of his young son Koa and wife Kealia, saying it was his son’s first NFL game and last home game.
“My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It has been an absolute honor and a pleasure,” Watt said in a tweet.

A three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2012, 2014, 2015) and a five-time First Team All-Pro selection, he was selected by the Houston Texans in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
Watt played the first 10 seasons of his career with Houston before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals still have two games left on the schedule, the Falcons and the 49ers.
He was also named the 2017 Walter Peyton Man of the Year for helping raise millions of dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief.
