North Bay — New funds available to support promising early-stage startups in North Bay.
The Entrepreneurship Innovation Fund, an initiative of Canadore College, has $300,000 at its disposal to “initiate, support and harness innovation and entrepreneurship in northern Ontario.”
One of the eligibility requirements is that the project must involve Canadore students and/or faculty.
According to a Canadore statement, “This initiative provides an opportunity to foster innovation and increase sustainability in Northern Ontario communities, while increasing inclusiveness, diversity and accessibility.”
“More specifically, the Entrepreneurship Innovation Fund provides qualified Canadore faculty, staff, and students with one-time funding to increase productivity and innovation in communities in northern Ontario.”
To be considered, project ideas must demonstrate how the funding will accelerate growth or support innovation and sustainability in Northern Ontario. Applications should outline how Canador students or staff will be involved and their commitment to fostering community development.
Applications for the Fund are now being accepted until 12:00pm on February 3rd.
The fund is an initiative of Canadore’s Entrepreneurship Academy announced in 2021.
The first of its kind in Canada, the academy’s professional business programming aims to bring more students into entrepreneurship.
