MILWAUKEE—Flights around the U.S. are slowly returning to normal after computer problems led to a nationwide grounding of flights early Wednesday. More than 8,200 flights nationwide as of Wednesday afternoon. is late.
Air travelers in Wisconsin were not immune to delays. Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, the state’s busiest airport, saw many delays and cancellations throughout the day.
Madison Wick’s flight to Denver was delayed by several hours. She was disappointed that her flight was scheduled to take off three hours after her, but glad she had her advance notice of what was happening.
“We were able to look at the app ahead of time.We also picked up the news this morning to check. They said the FAA was delaying us, but we could just stay home and wait a bit. I did,” Wick said.
Some travelers with very early morning flights were spared the inconvenience of flight delays. Jennifer Mafik was happy to learn that his son’s plane took off before landing, so his early morning arrival from Orlando was unaffected.
“We were happy that his eyes went red overnight, and that worked for us,” says Muffick.
As the FAA grounding continues to have ripple effects throughout the system, we recommend that anyone flying is advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport.na
