Hip-hop will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023. hip hop birthday, iHeartRadio prepares to commemorate all the historical moments and iconic artists who have influenced pop culture around the world.
On Tuesday, January 10, iHeartMedia announces year-long celebration iHeartRadio Presents: 50 Years of Hip Hop Honoring the hip-hop community with a series of special programs and once-in-a-lifetime events. Starting in February, iHeartRadio will launch its 12-part program iHeartPodcast series 50 years of hip hop hosted by fab 5 freddyThe podcast centers around stories of legendary artists and landmark events that transformed the art of rap into the influential genre it is today.
Doc Winter, iHeartMedia’s President of Hip Hop and R&B Programming, said: “We look forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary all year round with the artists and creators who have shaped the genre.”
In addition to the podcast, iHeartRadio will be celebrating Black History Month in February, sharing personal anecdotes about the tastes of popular rap artists.
