Lauryn and Michael Bosstick host The Skinny Confidential HIM & HER podcast, which has been downloaded over 16 million times.
But at this point, it’s mostly a side business for them.
They used the community to launch several successful businesses that now generate over $10,000,000 annually.
It all started with a blog called The Skinny Confidential.
“I started blogging 13 years ago, and I was like, ‘I’m going to start a blog, but I’m going to do it 100% every day. Money.’ My advice: don’t start with the intention of making money.”
Although it was unprofitable for three years, she saw her blog as a business from the beginning.
she said. This is my career. And this will happen.”
The blog became popular and was soon followed by a podcast with her husband, Michael.
They could have stopped there and made a comfortable living making millions of dollars from podcasts.
But they had the drive and passion to keep going.
Their first venture was Dear Media, a podcast network founded in 2018.
It’s a women-focused network that hosts over 50 podcasts and has over 60 million followers across social media.
Michael says: Backed by private equity. I don’t think people realize that beyond podcasts, Dear Media has invested in 10 or 11 consumer businesses. We work with streaming opportunities, live events and merchandising. ”
Brands they have invested in include Beekeeper’s Naturals, Canopy, Feel Free Botanics and NEZ.
Due to their success, they are proposing new business every day. But what they want from a startup isn’t always on the balance sheet.
Rollin says, “I’m mostly an intuition type. I have to love the product, and I can talk about it seamlessly and that’s what I use for my family.” and if it’s aesthetically pleasing and their social presence is strong. Then I go to Michael and he looks under the hood. We will consider what to do.”
Michael continues: To be an entrepreneur, to be a person who aligns everything, you have to have an innate ability, and you have to be born with a “that” that allows you to think like that. ”
They have some advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Rollin says, “You have to have that belief in yourself. Because if you’re trying to ask someone for money and you don’t believe in yourself, they can feel that energy.” And why would you want to invest in someone who doesn’t believe in themselves?”
And he left us some great advice for creators.
Lauryn says: I think you’re really smart about who and how much you’re consuming. ”
So put your phone down and try to create something new today.
No one knows where it will lead. Maybe one day I will work with Boss Sticks.
