houston – Houston area residents on Monday were finally able to enjoy a break from the cold that had dominated Christmas weekend.
But for others, the weather was just a break from the familiar.
Keith Empiringham, who visited Sugarland from Toronto, said, “It was beautiful.
A problem he says Toronto residents are coping with “pretty well” is one many families in our backyards are coping with right now: broken pipes.
For Zelena Brown, weekends have been busy and exhausting with service calls to her family’s plumbing company.
When asked how many calls the company has received in the last three days, Brown doesn’t hesitate to answer.
“I don’t even know. I can’t count,” she said.
One of the problems with this freeze, unlike 2021, is that it happened on Christmas Day. That meant everyone was staying home and spending time with their families.
KPRC 2 Investigates contacted several plumbers, but all but two were absent on Monday.
Brown and her family were not surprised.
They said they knew many of their fellow co-workers were bickering, so they decided to freeze their vacations and work weekend freezes.
“We literally worked 24-hour shifts, took care of everyone we could, and started over two hours later,” says Brown.
According to Brown, the reported damages are different from February 2021.
“Last year most of the pipes were internal causing a lot of damage.
