WEST ALICE, Wisconsin — The U.S. housing market hasn’t recovered from the pandemic, but the Metropolitan Builders Association’s 2023 homebuilding and remodeling show shows there’s a lot going on in the industry in the Milwaukee area. I believe that
According to the Wisconsin Builders Association’s latest report, home construction in the state is down 24% from summer 2021 to 2022.
Dave Kallie spoke to a customer about a residential construction project. He is the owner of Dimension Inc., a home building and remodeling company in Brookfield.
“We recently signed preliminary contracts for a new home in Madison’s house, so we still see opportunities, so I think we’re still going to be in pretty good shape this year.
But this is part of the year he takes a breather.
“Usually it slows down a lot, but I think over the holidays, new home construction has slowed down a bit, probably because of interest rates and the economy,” Curry said. ‘Remodeling continues to go well’
The Metropolitan Builders Association organized this event to help consumers find reliable contractors for home construction and remodeling.
Event manager Pam Lohnes said Milwaukee remains an active market for retrofits.
“Work is coming in. People still need to remodel. They want to remodel,” says Lohnes. “They want to do things differently. Clearly things have changed a bit since the COVID-19 pandemic, with homes becoming more important to people and things that interest them in their lives. I’m sure you want to customize your home accordingly.”
This weekend, as people continue to look for ways to make their homes better, Kallie was reminded of why she loves being here.
“We have people who just come here with dilapidated homes, and the process to make their dreams come true as it relates to their homes and improving people’s lives through it. It’s really fun to work on.
