Cookie Plug, a California-based cookie store company, is opening a store in Killeen this Saturday.
The new cookie shop will open Saturday at 10am at 2002 Folly Drive in Killeen, according to a post on the company’s social media.
Inspired by hip hop culture, graffiti and street art, Cookie Plug is based in California. But in Killeen and elsewhere, the style and street slang aren’t entirely welcome.
Some commented that they weren’t happy about the company opening in Killeen, while others threatened to protest Saturday’s grand opening, according to local comments on Facebook.
According to Cookie Plug’s website, its cookies are “Fatter and Thicker” and come in 13 flavors of the day and four keto options. According to the company, the cookies are “100% kid-friendly.”
“Three years ago we decided we needed to bake until done. Then it puts a twist on cookies you’ve never seen before: FAT, THICC, and BOMB AF, according to the company’s website cookieplug.com.
The 13 flavored cookies, with names like “Snooperdoodle” and “Purple Haze,” refer to street culture, drugs and rappers, according to the Albany, Oregon newspaper, the Albany Democrat Herald, which launched a new Cookie Plug last month. The shop has opened.
“We’re like cousins to the Crumble gang,” Drea Andrews, Cookie Plug’s Oregon district manager, told the Democratic Herald. She was referring to her Crumbl Cookies, another cookie chain in Harker Heights.
The franchise, which currently has more than 25 stores nationwide, plans to open additional stores in Temple and Waco in the future.
