More details have emerged about Gangsta Boo’s tragic death. On January 1, Three 6, the former Mafia rapper, was found dead in her hometown of Memphis. The artist, born Laura Mitchell, was just 43 years old. Now TMZ is reporting that her death was the result of a drug overdose.

“A source connected to Gangsta Boo tells TMZ…the rapper’s death appears to be drug-related. Gangsta was with his brother last night at a local concert in Memphis and said she ‘s brother allegedly began overdosing in the night…requiring hospitalization. People claim that drugs were found on her person and that fentanyl contaminants are believed to be at work. Police are reportedly opening a formal investigation.”

Gangsta Boo was the undisputed queen of Southern rap, joining Three 6 Mafia at the age of 15. With her 1995 group’s debut Flow with her album Mystic Styles, she impressed the hell out of the music industry. Mitchell made a total of six appearances on her Three 6 Mafia records, launching her successful solo career.
Her debut solo album ‘Inquiring Minds’ was released in 1998, followed by ‘Both Worlds (asterisk)69’ and ‘Inquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera’. Gangsta Boo paved the way for female rappers, and earlier this year she also appeared on her Latto’s “FTCU” featuring GloRilla.Hip-hop lost a true legend.
