Here’s a recap of the high school varsity team’s action starting Tuesday, December 27th.
Century 53, Wootton 38: Mia Graff posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Knights to 4-1. Harley Hamlet recorded his 16 goals and 5 assists. Hannah Duncan had eight points and six assists, while Mackenzie Mouder had seven points and his team-high 11 rebounds.
Francis Scott Key 53, Smithburg 34: The Eagles had 14 points and 9 rebounds in Ally Matthias’ victory. Abbey Leaguer scored 12 with him and he stole 6 bases. Summerbrooks scored his ten points and he recorded six assists.
Walkersville 53, Marriott Ridge 32: Walkersville defeated Marriott Ridge in the Manchester Valley Invitational. Kelly Lee led the Mustangs (3-4) with his 15 points, including his 8 in the second quarter.
Hammond 59, Francis Scott Key 35: The Golden Bears (4-3) won the Meade Route 175 Holiday Classic to build a commanding 40-18 lead at halftime. Justin Christian led the Hammond offense with 19 as Justin Campbell scored 14. Kamari Facet and Nick Wilk each added nine points.
Catonsville 68, Meade 58: The hosts Mustang fell behind early and dropped the first game of the season at the Route 175 Holiday Classic despite fighting back in the third quarter. Sean Jones led Meade with 16 points and seven rebounds. Kylie Scott has 15 points and 5 rebounds. Zamar Jones also scored his 15 points.
Southern 63, Crossland 47: The Bulldogs beat Sabin Cordua by 24 points in the Northern Patriots Holiday Classic. Brian Griffin scored his 12 points and Joel Simmons scored his six assists and four steals.
Arundel 64, NW 52: The Wildcats won the Liberty Holiday Tournament. Leading in points at halftime, Arundel continued with a 28–10 run into the third quarter. Noah Flyer led the win with his 23 points.
Wild Lake 64, Indian Creek 62: The Wildecats dominated the Eagles at the Severna Park Winter Jam. Kindall Crawford led Indian Creek with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Aiden Evans had 11 points and 12 rebounds, Will Frost had 13 points and Kyle Harvin had 12 points.
Long Reach 74, Broadneck 58: The Lightning (7-0) extended their unbeaten start to the season as RJ Burns Jr. scored a season-high 21 points, 11 of which came in the final quarter. Christian Dean scored 19 points and Ethan Maokanfiou scored 14 in a long reach with a balanced attack.
