HASTINGS, Nebraska (KSNB) – Carli Russell has been busy.
A business major at Hastings College who also ran football on the field for the Broncos, she’s ready to add entrepreneurship to her list.
Russell, who hails from Lubbock, Texas, has been a coffee drinker since high school. Her breakthrough came when her professor suggested she submit a class project on a mobile coffee business to Hastings College for Big Ideas.
She continued to win the competition, and Howdy May’s coffee began to take shape. She said she was happy with what it meant.
“I love it, so I’m excited to start at this young age. ..
Emma Enochs, who helped organize the Big Idea event at Hastings College, told Local4 News that Russell’s story is just one example of what the event is about to do.
“Big Idea HC is a platform for people to speak out about their college experience. Make it memorable,” said Enochs. He said. “That’s why we hold this event every year.”
The coffee flavors Russell offers are inspired by her past. She said she lived in New Mexico for 12 years before moving to Texas, and she wanted to showcase that side of her life with her business.
