Multi-platinum, Grammy®-winning hip-hop artist 2 Chainz will perform at the 2023 Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB) on February 18, 2023 at Alabama State University (ASU). A college (HBCU) marching with his band and dance team was held at his HBCU campus. One of ASU’s most famous alumni, his 2 Chainz, took the stage at the halftime show to celebrate Black’s cultural and musical excellence.

For the 18th year of the HBOB Invitational Showcase, six HBCU marching bands have been selected to showcase their talent and dedication by bringing energetic performances to fans across the country. The 2023 lineup includes:: Alabama State University, Langston University, Morgan State University, Savannah State University, Texas Southern University, Virginia State University.
Each of these six bands will receive an all-expense paid trip to the HBOB Invitational Showcase in Montgomery, Alabama. Based on Honda’s long-standing support for his HBCU, each of the six participating colleges will receive his $50,000 grant from Honda.

Honda is also supporting nonprofits within the host city of Montgomery with $100,000 in local grants and $20,000 to two nonprofits that have partnered with Honda on new murals installed on the ASU campus.

Honda and historically black colleges
