Every week, dozens of studies ranking states and cities are sent to your inbox. Nearly all of them are blurbs masquerading as information, some far more ridiculous than others.
This week’s example: A survey by dental providers ranked all 50 states by dental health to see which states had the best and worst smiles. According to the email, they used 25 indicators of dental health, including the percentage of adults visiting dentists in each state and the number of dentists per 100,000 people.
Connecticut topped the list, followed by the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Hawaii and New Jersey. Worst dental health? According to the study, the honor belongs to Arkansas, followed by West Virginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
You may be wondering where Arizona sits: number 32 in the middle. Of course, there are factors that can spoil the whole investigation. That means it’s close to the Mexican border. There are many Grand Canyon State residents willing to travel a few hours to the border for dental care in places such as Los Algodones.
Interestingly, another study hit our inboxes this week, which seems to complement the first. The National Candy Store ranked the top Valentine’s Day candies in each state. . Analysts used the company’s own online sales figures over the past 15 years to determine which candies are popular in each state. Based on that data, Arizona is particularly fond of his M&Ms, followed by heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and Conversation Hearts.
It sounds like a silly survey, but Valentine’s Day candy consumption is no joke.According to the National Retail Federation, Americans spend $25.9 billion annually on Valentine’s Day, up from last year’s record $23.9 billion. break the Additionally, the number of people buying candy is expected to hit a record high, with 57% of his consumers opting for sweet treats instead of sweets.
Finally, a study by a company called LawnStarter used data on pollution, living conditions and infrastructure consumer satisfaction to rank America’s “dirtiest cities.”
No community in Arizona ranked in the top 10 or bottom 10, but the nearby city of San Bernardino, California, ranks as the third dirtiest city in the country. Only No. 1 Houston and his No. 2 Newark, N.J., are at the top.
However, Las Vegas and Phoenix are not so easy to get off. They’re not in the top 10, but Vegas he’s 19th and Phoenix he’s 23rd. country, but we digress).
I think it’s time for these cities to sweep the action. In the meantime, we can vow to keep Havasu beautiful, so it won’t be on that list.
