More than 13,000 Hoosier Girl Scouts in 45 Indiana counties will be selling cookies this season.
INDIANAPOLIS — Girl Scouts’ 2023 cookie season kicks off Tuesday to delight cookie lovers around the world, as well as Girl Scouts like Angel Flores Rankin.
Angel is a Junior Girl Scout preparing for her second cookie season.
She said she joined Girl Scouts in Central Indiana to make new friends and make a difference in her community.
“Me and my military have been talking about donating the money we make to charity.
Girl Scouts of Central Indiana CEO Daniel Shockey said more than 13,000 Hoosier Girl Scouts will be selling cookies in 45 Indiana counties this season.
“This is like waking up more than 13,000 small business owners and opening stores for the first time,” says Shockey. “They have goals set. They have the income they want to achieve because those incomes help them live their best lives.”
Angel said that selling cookies is hard work.
“We are taking all these orders,” said Angel.
But the 10-year-old Girl Scout said the pay was worth the work.
“Six dollars is a big difference for us,” says Angel. “It’s still adding money, which means we’re getting closer to the goals we need.”
According to Shockey, 100 percent of cookie sales remain in central Indiana.
As for Angel, she says Adventurefuls are her favorite cookie.
“It’s brownie-inspired,” Angel said. “It has caramel filling with a hint of sea salt.”

This year Girl Scouts adds a new cookie to the mix called Raspberry Rally. The thin, crispy cookie is the beloved Thin Mint’s “sister” cookie, infused with raspberry flavor instead of mint and dipped in the same delicious chocolate her coating.
“It looks like thin mint,” Shockey said. It has raspberries inside and I think it tastes like that. ”
For the first time in the Girl Scout Cookies line-up, it will only be available online and drop-ship only for the 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Season.
This year’s cookie season in Central Indiana continues through March 12th.
