Philadelphia, New York (WWNY) – The North Country battles for men’s and women’s high school basketball and women’s college hockey were on record Friday night.
Two state-ranked teams met in Philadelphia when Indian River hosted General Brown in the Women’s Frontier League contest.
From the opening chips, Kori Nichols took the Raid Lions to 2 for 2. At basketball, Nichols surpassed her mark of her career by 1,000 points.

At IHC, a battle for bragging rights raged in the city as the Lady Cavaliers hosted Watertown.
In the second quarter, Ariana Verdi hit a long jumper: Watertown Down 15.
Conversely, Abby Bombard hits the scoop shot in paint.
IHC went on to beat Watertown 59-33.
In Boys’ Frontier League Basketball in Philadelphia, Indian River hosted General Brown.
In the third quarter, Tucker Rosbrook drives the baseline for the basket: the Lions are 17 behind.
Warriors reply Ethan Petrus hits 3 balls: Warriors down 22.
General Brown defeated Indian River 63-38 with Luke Heller finishing inside.
At JCC men’s non-league basketball, Copenhagen met Morristown.
In the second quarter, Kameron Toland hit a 3-pointer for Morristown.
Elijah Smith fills short jumper in paint: 20-17 Copenhagen.
In the third quarter, Joseph Wrobel laid in two from a turnover to keep Morristown within one.
Josh L’Huiller goes 2-on-1 coast-to-coast.
Copenhagen beat Morristown 48-41.
In women’s ECAC hockey at Appleton Arena, St. Lawrence hosted Clarkson in the Route 11 rivalry.
There were no scores in the second period as Abby Hustler dented the back of the net: the Lady Saints were 1-0 up front.
Kyrie Mastell also scored a power play goal in second place to beat the Lady Saints 2-0.
Clarkson stays within 1 on Ann Chelkowski’s power plateau tally.
The game ends in a 2-2 tie in overtime.
