Beginning January 19th, NORD’s FITNOLA and the New Orleans Public Library are teaming up to host two hip-hop cardio classes per week.
Dance to your favorite music with signature hip-hop moves that work everything from your legs and glutes to your arms and core. Beginners are welcome to this ultimate cardio workout.
Classes are held every Thursday from 11:00 am to noon at the Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Drive and every Saturday from 11:00 am to noon at the Norman Mayer Library, 3001 Gentilly Blvd.
Water is provided. Yoga mats are limited, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.
Book club: Two book club meetings are scheduled for January 19th.
The library’s Who Dun It? Book Club will meet via Zoom at 4 p.m. to discuss David Baldacci’s “Camel Club,” which follows four conspiracy theorists who team up with Secret Service agents after witnessing a murder. .

The Book Gumbo Reading Group at the Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center will also meet at 4:00 PM. Book Gumbo won’t be held in his February because the Mardi Gras parade is closed. The library is located at 4300 S. Broad St.
Data seminar: One for business data and one for homework help. Two different seminars are part of online learning in the main library at 219 Loyola Ave.
On January 24th at 10:00 am, Bill Carlson, president of Data Axle Reference Solutions, will host a seminar on how to navigate and search this online database.
Data Axle is an online provider of business and consumer data, providing real-time access to over 44 million businesses and over 158 million consumers. It addresses the needs of local business owners, marketers, and sales managers.
This seminar will teach you how to:
- Find jobs by job skills, location and industry
- find business opportunities
- Search for companies nationwide
- research manager
- See historical market trends
- Track addresses and phone numbers
- Discover news articles for research
At noon, Ashlenn Wellbrock, President of Tutor.com, will host a seminar explaining the features of Homework Louisiana.
The online learning platform allows students to connect with live tutors and get help with their homework. In addition, Homework Louisiana offers adult learning and career building resources, such as resume writing and interview preparation.
Programming for teens: Teenagers are invited to two events for fun and feedback on what the library has to offer.
On January 25, Robert E. Smith Library, 6301 Canal Blvd. will host activities, games, snacks, and prizes from 3:30-5:00 PM.
A similar activity will be available on January 26th from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at the Algiers Regional Library at 3014 Holiday Drive.
At each event, teens are also given the opportunity to explore the future of teen programming in the library.
This event is open to ages 11-18 and is sponsored by the Friends of New Orleans Public Library.
