Former Appalachian offensive coordinator Frank Ponce is slated to become the current Appalachian offensive coordinator, Frank Ponce.
athletic ESPN reported Monday that Ponce, 51, will return to Boone after a season as Miami’s quarterback coach.
This will actually be Ponce’s third stint at Boone. He served as co-offensive coordinator and quarterback coach under Scott Satterfield from 2013-18 and joined Louisville’s Satterfield as quarterback coach in 2019-20.
Ponce is back to carry out attacks in 2021. This season, the Mountaineers won the Sunbelt East his championship and averaged less than his 35 points per game, placing him 23rd in the nation.
Head coach Sean Clarke, who left to join Mario Cristobal’s South Beach reboot, hired Central Michigan’s offensive coordinator Kevin Barvey to run the Mountaineers’ offense. Burvey then left to run the offense in Mississippi.
