Thousand Oaks, Calif. – In the final installment of a four-part series focused on black-owned businesses that have visited Rams training facilities this season, theRams.com spotlights food truck Pineapple Express.
Kevin Burton, also known as DJ “Kevvy Kev” and co-owner of Pineapple Express, talks about how Pineapple Express started, where people can keep up with its location, future plans, and more .
1) How did Pineapple Express start and how long has it been in business?
“I started Pineapple Express when I lost my job during the COVID season.I’m a DJ and all the clubs were closed so I was trying to find a way to support my family. I already had cooking experience, so I was like, “Hey, maybe I should build a food truck.” I started and it literally took off from there. I used followers because I used to host events and parties locally.
2) What was it like being at the Rams facility and being able to serve the players, coaches and staff all season long?
“Oh, that’s a blessing. Shout out to[social justice and football development coordinator]Noel Grigsby working for you guys. The direct went through me – I’m from Crenshaw and we graduated together – the Rams. Executive Vice President, Community Impact and Engagement) Molly (Higgins), he’s such a great guy. We had a conversation. Since then, you guys are so blessed. I never thought of this. I am very grateful. It is definitely welcome.
