The Vandalia Fire Department was first called to Block 300 on North Dixie Drive around 12:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire at Oscars Sports Bar & Grill, a Vandalia dispatch told News Center 7.
When the Vandalia Fire arrived on the scene, they upgraded the fire to “effective fire” and called on the surrounding cities (Tipp City, Englewood, Dayton, Butler Township, Clayton) for mutual aid.
Officers were also asked to block traffic, particularly the southbound lane on North Dixie Drive, Dispatch said.

Footage received by News Center 7 from the scene showed smoke visibly coming out of the roof, entrance and back door.
Crew members at the scene reported poor or no visibility due to thick smoke inside the commercial building, the dispatch confirmed.
Firefighters were filmed forcibly entering a locked building with a hammer and pick, as seen in the still image below.
However, it is unclear whether there were people inside the building when the fire broke out, or whether nearby businesses had evacuated.
