For most crypto ecosystems, being compliant with federal sanctions has a negative impact on their global reach. have power
Nearly 60% of all Ethereum blocks after the merge are compliant with US sanctions put forward by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). While the cryptocurrency community has opposed this transformation, many are unaware of their contribution to helping Ethereum achieve full OFAC compliance.
One of the biggest factors undermining Ethereum’s credible neutrality is the crypto ecosystem and exchanges’ use of MEV relay censorship. Miner Extractable Value (MEV) relays act as intermediaries between block producers and block builders, used by prominent crypto players such as Binance, Celsius Network, Coinbase, Kraken and Cream Finance.
Censorship with Validators Users staking Ether (ETH) on platforms that run MEV relays (as described above) directly contribute to the censorship of Ethereum. Crypto platforms can help remedy the situation by employing uncensored MEV boost relays.
For validators and relay operators, popular MEV boost relays that do not facilitate censorship include Ultra Sound Money, Agnostic Boost, Aestus, BloXroute Max Profit, BloxRoute Ethical, Manifold, and Relayooor.
As of this writing, 67 of the last 100 Ethereum blocks have been found to enforce OFAC compliance.
As an investor, it is important to understand that protocol-level censorship hampers cryptocurrency’s goal of unlocking open and inclusive finance. Therefore, it becomes important for both the investor and his provider of services to choose an uncensored MEV boost relay.
