Ensley Fairfield Mattress Co. to close after 100 years in business

Pelham – Ensley Fairfield Mattress Co., which has served the area for over 100 years, is closing.
Ensley Fairfield Mattress Co. began operations in 1915 and will celebrate its 108th year in 2023. The official announcement of the closure was made on his Monday, December 26th. January 2023 will be the last operational month.
Perry Burnett, Vice President of Operations, said: “As we celebrate the retirement of our third generation, we are also saddened to see another iconic and historic Birmingham operation close.” Decades of excellent customer service, quality products and great value have earned us the right to be your trusted source of sleep in Birmingham.”
In a press release entitled “Goodbye Birmingham,” Ensley Fairfield Mattresses said goodbye to all its longtime and loyal customers.
“We’ve had some older customers who have been buying our mattresses their whole lives, and it’s always been a special connection,” Burnett says. is always one phone call or store visit and I can’t be there for them.”
Barnett said making such a decision and closing a store that has been serving customers for more than a century was not an easy decision.
“Any small business owner can tell you that they spend most of their day making tough decisions,” Barnett says. “Running a small business is often one of the most enjoyable experiences, but also one of the loneliest. We have come together as a family to present challenges such as economic, administrative and manufacturing challenges, rising prices and lingering pandemic-related challenges.”
Barnett said many options were considered and decided upon in deciding to close.
“We talked about what the next year, the next five years, the next 50 years will be,” Burnett said. “We took into consideration consumer buying habits and their desire to shop online and their desire to shop locally. We focused on what it would be like for us personally and as a family. After considering all possible scenarios, we decided that making the decision to close our last retail store would be in the best interest of our family. Did.”
In a statement closing the press release, all four generations of Ensley Fairfield said the closure was the retailer’s final rest.
“Right now we’re closing our retail locations properly and focusing more on taking care of as many customers as possible,” Barnett said. It allows us to focus more on the next step.”
4 Generations said goodnight in Birmingham and said in their closing remarks that they love all their customers over the years.
