Ellis regroups USC in the closing stages as the Trojans beat Washington 80-67

SEATTLE (AP) — Boogie Ellis scored 27 points to extend USC’s seventh straight win and pull away from Washington for an 80-67 win on the road Friday night.

Ellis responded to a run that gave Washington a 3-point lead by scoring 16 points in the final ten minutes of the second half. Ellis’ points total matched his output in his 82-76 victory over BYU in November, and on December 18 he finished his 74-71 run against No. 19 Auburn. shy of his season-high 28 in wins.

The Trojans (11-3) went undefeated in six games in December.

Washington trailed by seven points at the break, but quickly closed the deficit in the second half. Freshman Keyon Menifield scored on two layups and Cole Bahema hit the first of four 3-pointers in the second half to take the lead at 42-41 three minutes into the first half.

The Huskies then used a 10-0 run bolstered by a pair of Vallema’s 3-pointers and Menifield’s pair of baskets to take a 58-55 lead with 10:28 remaining. However, Ellis scored nine points in his 11-0 run and led the Trojans 66-58.

Ellis finished 10-of-19 from the field, including 4-of-8 from range, went 3-for-3 from the line, had 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Added. Drew Peterson added his 17 points and Trewhite contributed his 12 points to give him eight boards.

Kaion Brooks scored 22 points and seven rebounds in a win over the Huskies (9-5, 1-2). Menifield added his 18 points and Vallema contributed 12 points over the arc where he was 4 of 9.
